A River Heads man was left in disbelief after a Christmas Eve lunch with family and friends turned into a $55,000 Keno bonanza.

The Queensland resident held a Keno Classic 7 Spot winning entry in draw 297, drawn Sunday 24 December 2023. His total prize was $55,498.60.

“Tell you what, I feel great!” the winning man laughed when an official from Keno called to confirm his windfall.

“It was a wonderful surprise to receive on Christmas Eve night.

“We were just out for dinner with a couple of family members and friends. We put some games on and got sidetracked.

“I wasn’t even watching the screen. I was just eating my dinner and enjoying the company.

“As we were leaving, we scanned our tickets and that’s when we realised my ticket had won!

“It’s unreal! I’ll be able to use the money towards a house deposit.”

The man’s winning entry was purchased at Bargara Lakes Tavern, 2 Bargara Lakes Drive, Bargara.

Bargara Lakes Tavern venue manager Ryan Gilbert said he and the team were over the moon for the fortunate man and wished him all the best with his prize.

“It was great. The winning man had no idea when he checked his ticket! What a great Christmas present to him!” he said.

“Everyone in the venue was pumped that we had a major win too. It was awesome.

“Congratulations to the lucky winner and thank you for supporting Bargara Lakes Tavern!”
