A Leeton woman has hit the roof in a good way after scoring a major Keno prize worth more than $75,000 while at her local club with her family.

The New South Wales patron held a Keno Classic Ways winning entry in game 516 on Saturday 29 of August and takes home a prize of $75,948.10.

Confirming her life-changing windfall with an official from Keno today, the winner recounted the moment she realised she had won.

“This is the most money I’ve ever won!” she declared.

“I play Keno whenever I am down at the bowls club. They call me ‘queen-o’ down there!

“I always play the same numbers. They are birthday numbers of my family members and me.

“That’s how I knew I had won. I saw the numbers come up on the screen.

“My husband had just walked in from playing bowls, and I said to him ‘I think I’ve just won a hell of a lot of money’.

“He asked me how much I had won and so I checked my ticket, and that’s when I realise it was over $75,000! I couldn’t believe it.

“I was pretty excited. Our sons were there with us too, so we all got to celebrate together. It was a good time.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her Keno fun money, the thrilled winner confessed it would go straight towards fixing her roof.

“My hubby and I are retired and we’ve spent the last little while renovating our home,” she explained.

“The last thing on the list was getting a new roof so I’d say it will go towards that!

“We have our son and grandkids living with us too so it will help us all out very much.”

The winning Keno Classic Ways entry was purchased at Leeton and District Bowling Club, Cnr Willow & Grevillia Streets, Leeton.

Leeton and District Bowling Club manager Dave Campbell said he was thrilled a regular patron had scored such a massive prize.

“It’s the biggest Keno prize we’ve ever sold so we are thrilled it was won by a regular and a local to the area,” he said.

“We wish her all the best with her win!”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 58.4 million wins collectively worth more than $776.79 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $38.72 million.  Ten of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle woman who was stunned to pocket a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.4 million.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 26.69 million Keno wins totalling more than $386.39 million in the 12 months to 30 June 2020.
