A Tocumwal grandfather’s unwavering dedication to playing the same Keno numbers for 20 years has finally paid off with a $70,000 win.

The southern Riverina resident scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot in draw 536, drawn Wednesday 28 May 2025. He looks forward to a total prize of $70,590.40.

So far in 2025, two major Keno wins have landed in the Riverina region, collectively taking home $124,456.90 in prize money.

“I feel really good! It’s terrific news,” he laughed when an official from Keno relayed the winning news.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for two decades; they’re 20 years old!

“Funnily enough, I asked my six-year-old grandson his favourite numbers, at Christmas. Later on I went home and decided to use them for my Keno ticket.

“That ticket has already won multiple times! It pays to play your own numbers that you choose because when you win, it’s extra special.

“I enjoy visiting the Tocumwal Golf Club on a regular basis. It’s a great club, and the staff are lovely.

“Thank you very much.”

With a life-enhancing $70,000 win on the way, the New South Wales man said his first thought was of his family and how he could support them.

“I’ll be helping out my kids. They will receive some of the prize, but not all of it!” he laughed.

“I’ll save some for myself too.”

His winning Keno Classic entry was purchased at Tocumwal Golf Club, Barooga Road, Tocumwal.

Tocumwal Golf Club operations manager Kathy Giddens said the atmosphere in the club had lit up when the jackpot winner was announced.

“We were so excited for the winner! The club was buzzing!” she exclaimed.

“This is the first time we’ve seen a Keno win of this magnitude. We’ve sold a couple of 7 Spot jackpot wins in the last few months, but nothing as big as this!

“We’ve started to promote the win in the club and letting all of our customers know about the milestone.

“Congratulations to our Keno winner who is a loyal member to our club. You’re very deserving of this win!”

In 2024, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 76 million wins collectively worth more than $1. billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 23 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $54.9 million.  Ten of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Crows Nest man whose favourite numbers scored him $5.5 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 26.9 million Keno wins totalling more than $461.2 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2024
