While some would consider Friday the 13th ‘unlucky’, one Gulgong man has completely flipped the superstition on its head after scoring a $370,000 Keno win on the notorious date.

The Mudgee resident scored the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 484 on Friday 13 March 2026. He can look forward to a total prize of $373,953.60.

When an official from Keno called the gleeful grandad, he was still coming to terms with the reality of his win.

“It’s still not sunk in yet,” he said.

“I have a new set of favourite numbers now, that’s for sure! I usually change them up when I play but I might stick to these now.

“I didn’t even see them come up. It’s unbelievable.

“I live a simple life, so it won’t change much except make things a little easier.

“I’ll be able to pay off the mortgage and help family. I have plenty of grandchildren.

“It’ll take some time for me to process that I’ve actually won. Then once it’s in the bank account, I’ll be a very happy man.

“Thank you so much!”

His winning Keno Classic entry was purchased at Prince of Wales Hotel, 97 Mayne Street, Gulgong.

Prince of Wales Hotel manager Stephen Barber said he and the team were thrilled for their winner.

“We were shocked! A friend in Sydney called the owner and told them they had seen the win on a Keno screen down there. We immediately read it too on our screens and then we excitedly ran around trying to find the winner,” he laughed.

“We have been telling everyone who has come in about the win. We printed off posters of the win and have them displayed around the bar.

“I believe there has been three major Keno wins over the years, but this is by far the largest. It’s a great win for our small, rural town.

“A huge congratulations to our biggest Keno winner to date. We wish you all the best and enjoy your winnings!”
