Six Gold Coast friends have had a stellar start to 2023, snaring a $5.3 million Keno jackpot the night before New Year’s Eve.

The merry crew, consisting of three couples, held a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot winning entry in draw 652, drawn Friday 30 December 2022. They scored the jackpot prize of $5,386,709.20.

The windfall was the third biggest Keno prize to be won in Australia in 2022.

“There six of us – three couples. We’ve known each other for a very long time. We’re best friends, so it’s nice to have a win together,” one of the winning friends shared while confirming her group’s prize with a Keno official.

“We were having an end-of-year celebration on Friday night.

“Every time we get together, we play the same numbers every time. We’ve been playing them for a few years now.

“We hadn’t been at the venue for long. We were chatting and our numbers came up on the screen.

“It was a bit surreal. A few of us were double-checking the numbers to make sure.

“It certainly changed our plans for the night and future!”

When asked how the group might use their windfall, the winning woman shared some plans were already underway.

“It’s certainly going to help a few of us bring our retirement forward,” she shared.

“I can tell you, it will be a good new year! It’s a good way to start!”

The winning entry was purchased at Parkwood Tavern, Cnr Wintergreen Drive and Olsen Avenue, Parkwood.

Parkwood Tavern manager Robbie Miller said the team was so excited to see some of their patrons win big.

“We’ve been celebrating at the venue and telling everyone we’ve sold a major Keno prize,” he said.

“Lots of people have been so excited to hear that our patrons won. Everyone’s hoping it’s them next time!

“Congratulations to our winning group! We wish them all the very best with their prize.”
