A Mount Morgan man’s bathroom break was completely turned on its head in the best way possible after his quick trip delivered him more than $345,000 in a game of Keno.

The Sunshine State resident scored the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot winning entry in draw 206, drawn Sunday 22 September 2024 and took home a total prize of $345,293.50

The winning man was still reeling with excitement when an official from Keno called to confirm the wondrous news days later, and he relayed how the win came about.

“I’m pretty good today!” he laughed.

“I was actually at the beach with family when I went over to the Pine Beach Hotel Motel to use the toilet.

“I just put a couple of games on while I was there and then next thing I know, my ticket had won!

“I thought I had won $10,000 which would’ve been really nice but $345,000 is just incredible!

“My partner couldn’t stop shaking.

“I’m so shocked, I haven’t even had time to think about it. I’ve just been cleaning.

“I’d like to be wise with the prize. I’m going to have a good think about how I’ll use it because I don’t want to get carried away.

“Thanks so much!”

The winning entry was purchased from Pine Beach Hotel Motel, 3 - 5 Granville Street, Emu Park.

Pine Beach Hotel Motel general manager Keith Jackson said the team were over the moon to sell another major prize-winning Keno entry.

“It’s sensational! It was only last year, we sold a Keno ticket worth $3.2 million,” he said.

“Customers are surprised and thrilled that such a big win has happened again in their local area.

“We have paid out over $5 million in Keno winnings, so appears we’re on a winning streak.

Congratulations to the fortunate winner and we hope to see more patrons playing Keno at the Piney, the lucky venue!”

In FY24, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 78.5 million wins collectively worth more than $1.16 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 18 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $46.7 million.  Nine of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Kallangur man who won $8.45 million after scoring the Keno Classic and Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot jackpots in the one draw.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 28.5 million Keno wins totalling more than $441.6 million at pubs and clubs across the state in FY24.
