A Dubbo man has admitted he hasn’t stopped smiling from ear to ear since discovering he scored more than $1.3 million in a recent Keno draw and became a newly-minted millionaire.

The New South Welshman scored the Keno Classic 10 Spot jackpot winning entry in draw 699, drawn Saturday 21 September 2024 and took home a total prize of $1,328,230.40.

Although the winning man had woken up as a newly minted millionaire the next day, he couldn’t help but still go to work like nothing happened.

“I’m absolutely numb still!” he laughed when speaking to an official from Keno.

“I went to lunch with family and put on some games. I completely forgot about it, and it wasn’t until the next morning, I scanned it on my phone and discovered the win.

“I have a favourite saying. I always say, ‘We only have to fluke it once!’.

“When I saw how much I won, I called out to my wife, and I said ‘I fluked it! We only had to fluke it once!’.

“She said ‘Bulls***!’. She was on the toilet, and she went ‘Bring me the phone!’.

“I can’t believe it! We’re millionaires.

“As we went to bed last night, I couldn’t stop singing ‘Millionaire, millionaire, millionaire!’.

“You couldn’t hit the smile off me with a cricket bat!”

With more than 1.4 million about to boost his bank account, the gleeful winner had a few plans in mind.

“We’re going to pay off our house and help out some family members,” he shared.

“We have been talking about when we’ll give up work lately, so it’ll certainly boost retirement once it rolls around.

“I’m at work right now actually. I almost said I wasn’t going to go but my work ethic got in the way so here I am!

“Thank you so much!”

The winning entry was purchased from Macquarie Club, 313 Macquarie St Dubbo.

The Macquarie Club Keno team said they were over the moon to have sold a Keno jackpot winning entry and wished their patron all the best with his prize.

In FY24, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 78.5 million wins collectively worth more than $1.16 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 18 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $46.7 million. Eight of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Shelly Beach dad who scored a $5.92 million windfall.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 40.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $588.5 million across the region in FY24.
