A Durack man has described his recent $174,000 win in a Keno draw as ‘life-changing’, revealing it will allow him and his wife to achieve their dream of purchasing their first home.

The Queenslander scored the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot in draw 600, drawn Saturday 11 January 2025 and looks forward to a total prize of $174,226.00.

Not only does the win mark a significant milestone for the player, but it’s also the first major Keno jackpot to land in Brisbane’s southern suburbs in 2025.

“It’s pretty astounding,” he shared when speaking to an official from Keno this morning.

“I was in shock and disbelief. I had this ticket in my pocket for the entire week.

“I was with my wife when I decided to check the ticket and I had to call her from the backyard, and she came in and just didn’t believe the news.

“I just chose these numbers randomly; I'm not too sure why, but they’re my lucky numbers now!

“It hasn’t sunk in for us yet.”

When asked how they celebrated their incredible windfall, the winning man revealed they enjoyed a few celebratory drinks to mark the occasion.

“We had some beers last night!” he exclaimed.

“It’s amazing knowing that we can put this towards our very first home.

“We’ve been trying to save up for a house deposit and this is a great boost.

“Thank you very much.”

His winning Keno Classic entry was purchased at Lucky Tree Tavern, Cnr King & Inala Avenues, Durack.

The Lucky Tree Tavern team were pleased to hear a local man had taken home a major Keno prize from their venue and wished him all the best with his future.

In FY24, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 78.5 million wins collectively worth more than $1.16 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 18 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $46.7 million.  Nine of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Kallangur man who won $8.45 million after scoring the Keno Classic and Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot jackpots in the one draw.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 28.5 million Keno wins totalling more than $441.6 million at pubs and clubs across the state in FY24.
