A Chermside man is excited to surprise his wife with a new car after pocketing a $75,000 Keno prize yesterday.

The Brisbane resident held a Keno Classic 40 Spot entry with a x3 Bonus in draw 111, drawn Sunday 12 January 2025.

“I was so surprised!” the winning man told a Keno official.

“I was telling my wife it was time I had a big win and lo and behold, when I went to check my ticket, they told me it was too big for them to pay out there.

“I always play 40 numbers with the Bonus – just so any win gets boosted.

“I normally sit and watch and count the numbers, but yesterday I only realised when I checked my ticket.

“The missus has always said she wanted a new car. So when I told her I her I’d won $75,000 on Keno, she said, ‘you’re kidding me!’.

“It will be great to get her a new car.

“Having a big Keno win is not a bad way to start 2025!”

Kedron-Wavell general manager Vjorn Bradow said she was delighted to hear that one of her patrons had enjoyed such good fortune.

“We are always happy when one of our members or guests wins, but it was a surprise that the win was so big. Obviously, the 3 times Bonus multiplier made the win even better!” she said.

“The staff and the winner were in a bit of shock when it came up. The other members and guests on the day were very happy for the winner. It definitely spread quickly around the club that someone had won.

“On behalf of Kedron-Wavell, we hope that the winner gets to enjoy the win on something that they would never have gotten to do without it. We hope that this win is a great start to 2025!”

In FY24, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 78.5 million wins collectively worth more than $1.16 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 18 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $46.7 million.  Nine of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Kallangur man who won $8.45 million after scoring the Keno Classic and Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot jackpots in the one draw.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 28.5 million Keno wins totalling more than $441.6 million at pubs and clubs across the state in FY24.
