A Rydalmere couple have had a delightful start to the year after accidentally choosing an extra number in Keno, leading them to a $73,000 win.
The Sydneysiders scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot in draw 525, drawn Tuesday 7 January 2025. They can look forward to $73,741.30.
“I’m pretty good!” the winning husband said while speaking to an official from Keno.
“It’s great. It’s a nice way to start the year.
“It was a funny story; we normally choose six or seven numbers, but my wife accidentally chose eight numbers instead, so we just went with it.
“It turned out to be a good choice!”
When asked how they planned to use their newfound fortune, the happy couple said they’d need more time to consider their concrete plans.
“Well, we’re at work today so we haven’t had a good think about it yet,” he said.
“We’ve got an upcoming holiday, so it’ll help with that, and maybe we can use it towards a new car or something.
“We have plenty of family, so it’ll go to good use.”
Their winning entry was purchased at The Family Hotel, 378 Victoria Road, Rydalmere.
The Family Hotel spokesperson Katelyn Gadea said the team was happily sharing the excitement with their major Keno winner.
“What an incredible win for our patron! It’s always great hearing these winning stories and now we have another one to share with our patrons,” she said.
“We’re thrilled for our customer, and we hope to see more Keno winners in our venue soon.
“Congratulations to them. We have no doubt they’ll enjoying their prize!”
