A Gympie player has thanked a last-minute decision to give another Keno game a go for their life-enhancing $600,000 Keno Racing win.

The Wide Bay-Burnett resident held a major Keno Racing entry in draw 667, drawn Friday 8 July 2022. His total windfall was $660,000.00.

Confirming their win with a Keno official this morning, the gleeful player revealed how their discovery came about.

“This is unbelievable! It’s life-changing!” he cheered.

“I was enjoying a day out in the local club, and I saw the game Keno Racing come up. I’ve never seen the game before, and I was intrigued.

“It flooded a lot in Gympie earlier this year and as a result, horses haven’t been racing - this was the closest thing to it!

“I gave it a go, and I didn’t expect my numbers to come up. I’ve been playing other Keno games for many, many years.

“I’m super stoked that I’ve won. It will help with a lot of things!

“I’ll celebrate with a bunch of my friends – maybe throw a party! How good.”

His winning Keno Racing entry was purchased at Jockey Club Hotel, 39 Exhibition Road, Gympie.

Jockey Club Hotel venue manager Mandi Flikweert said this Keno prize was the largest ever won at their venue.

“The team were so surprised when the winning entry was won, and we’re so happy to see it be won at our venue,” she said.

“We had a win years ago, which was $20,000, but $660,000 doesn’t even come close!

“Congratulations to the winner and we wish them all the best.”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 13 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $31 million.  Six of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Gladstone man who won a Keno Classic 10 Spot prize of more than $2.1 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 17.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $264.98 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2021.
