A Wollongong man has admitted his $101,000 Keno win made him so excited that he couldn’t go home, and instead changed his plans and spent the day celebrating.

The New South Wales patron held a Keno Classic winning entry in game 481 on Sunday 20 June 2021, worth $101,705.30.

Speaking with an official from Keno this morning, the jubilant man explained how his win came to be.

“I was there when the win happened,” he exclaimed.

“I was just playing some Keno for a bit of fun and I was actually watching the draw when I saw the win flash up on the screen.

“I looked around and only saw a few people there, so I instantly knew I was the winner.

“I went completely numb after that.

“I was trying to be discrete, so I had to scream on the inside! But I did a few little fist pumps as well.

“It’s incredible!

“After I let the news sink in, I went and had a celebratory lunch.

“I ended up staying for quite a while, because I was in celebration mode and I was too excited to go home!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno fun money, the stoked bloke said he had one thing in mind.

“I don’t want to waste this money, so I will invest most of it,” he shared.

“I am sure there will be one or two fun things in there too!”

The winning Keno entry was purchased at The Builders Club, 61 Church Street, Wollongong.

The Builders Club, duty manager Andrew Dunstan said the entire team couldn’t be happier for their local patron.

“It was so exciting when the win happened. There’s always a buzz in the venue when someone wins a big prize,” he said.

“Our winner is a regular and so we really couldn’t be happier for him.

“Hopefully he has some fun plans for his prize and fingers crossed we can deliver more big wins to our patrons.”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 19 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $42.3 million.  Nine of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle woman who was stunned to pocket a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.4 million.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 25.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $393.2 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2020.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.

About Keno

Keno is a fun game played at more than 3,500 pubs and clubs across Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT and Victoria.

A Keno draw occurs approximately every three minutes. During each draw, 20 numbers are drawn from 1 to 80. Players simply match the numbers on their entry to the numbers drawn for a chance to win over $1 million.

There are a range of Keno games to play, including Keno Mega Millions – a higher jackpot version of Keno Classic that uses the same Keno ball draw but gives players the chance to win $5 million or more.
