Today’s revelation of a $1 million Keno win from the ticket he bought yesterday has left a Wangi Wangi man so shocked he could barely utter a word.

The New South Wales player held a Keno Classic 10 Spot winning entry in draw 357, drawn Monday 10 January 2022. His total prize was $1,077,451.60.

Since Christmas Day, there have been five Keno 10 Spot wins along the eastern seaboard, with two of those prizes landing in the Lake Macquarie region.

“I’d gone to the pub yesterday afternoon and as I was leaving, I popped on some Keno,” he explained when speaking with an official from Keno.

“I had no idea the 10 Spot had gone off. It wasn’t until I came back in today to check my ticket, that I found out.

“When the guy scanned my ticket, he leaned over the counter and whispered to me, ‘Congratulations!’.

“I just looked at him and said, ‘What for?’ and then he said, ‘You’ve won the 10 Spot! You’re a millionaire!’.

“I was stunned. My face just went completely blank.

“I barely uttered a word after that! It still hasn’t sunk in. I never thought I’d be a millionaire, but here we are.

“I couldn’t even stay to celebrate. I just walked straight out and went back home and called a few people to share the news.

“I think I might need to just sit down and try and comprehend what’s just happened.

“It’s come at a great time and will be a nice boost to the bank account. It’s fantastic!

“I’ll do some renovations on the home, and the rest I’ll just keep for a rainy day.”

The winning entry was purchased at Hotel Wangi, 230 Watkins Road, Wangi Wangi.

Hotel Wangi owner Peter Coyne said the hotel was buzzing with the news of the major Keno win.

“We had a $10,000 Keno win last week, and now this 10 Spot win. It’s great to see some big wins heading our way,” he said.

“This is by far the biggest Keno win we’ve had, so it’s a big moment for us. We couldn’t be happier!

“We’ve been sharing the news with all of our patrons, and they’ve been so excited and hoping to be the next to win a million-dollar prize.

“We’re glad the winner has discovered the news. Hopefully he’s got some great plans for his prize! Congratulations to him.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
