A Sunshine woman admits her Christmas Eve was feeling far from merry and bright until she discovered she had just won more than $66,000 in Keno.

The Melbourne winner held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 446 on Tuesday 24 December 2019 and scored a total prize of $66,241.50.

Speaking with a Keno official today, the woman declared she was still buzzing from the win.

“I was having such a bad day at work,” she explained.

“I wasn’t watching the draw, but I saw that there had been a win at Glengala Hotel where I had bought my ticket.

“It was a wonderful way to start Christmas, especially after the day I’d had.

“It was like the universe knew and decided to give me a break.”

The regular Keno player said she had marked her entry using some of her “special numbers”.

“I’ve actually won a Keno 8 Spot prize before. I seem to remember that came after a really busy day at work too,” she laughed.

“I’m going to use this money to help my children, but I’d also like to go on a cruise.

“Maybe next winter when it gets cold in Melbourne I’ll go on a cruise to somewhere sunny.”

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno 8 Spot entry at Glengala Hotel, 214 Glengala Road, Sunshine West.

Glengala Hotel manager Dora Amiridis said the team was so excited to see one of their patrons win.

“We’ve been celebrating at the venue and telling everyone we’ve sold a major Keno prize,” she said.

“Lots of people have been so excited to hear that one of our patrons has won. Everyone’s hoping it is them next time!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them all the very best with their prize.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $47.2 million. This included a Baxter man who didn’t discover he had won a Keno 10 Spot prize of $1,541,399.90 until a fortnight after the draw.

Victorians enjoyed more than 4.48 million Keno wins totalling more than $68 million at pubs and clubs across the state in the 12 months to 30 June 2019.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win $10,000 by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.
