A North Ipswich woman’s long-standing tradition, sparked by numbers she spotted while working pub shifts, has delivered her a $59,000 Keno win.

The Sunshine State resident scored a Keno Classic major win in Keno draw 814, on Thursday 6 November 2025. She pocketed a total prize of $59,644.10.

When an official from Keno called the gleeful woman, she relayed how her special win came about.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for about 25 years!” she laughed.

“It’s about time they came through. I started playing them when I worked at a pub. They weren’t any special birthdays or anything, just numbers I would notice pop up while I was on shift.

“I was only just saying the other day that I need a new car so it’s perfect timing.

“I actually had no clue I’d won until I checked my ticket. Even then, when they had to call the Keno customer service, I was thinking, ‘Yay. I’ve won at least $5,000’. Turns out it was a lot more than that.

“I was just so stunned. Someone I was with said, ‘Aren’t you excited? You don’t look it!’. I think I was in disbelief and didn’t know what to say.

“It’s absolutely amazing. Thank you so much!”

Her winning Keno Classic entry was purchased from Club Services Ipswich, 5 Lowry St, North Ipswich.

Club Services Ipswich gaming manager Brett Cruice said he was thrilled that a local scored a major Keno prize at the Club.

“We were immensely excited that one of our long-time patrons won a significant Keno jackpot. The fact that a well-known patron won the prize made it so much sweeter,” he said.

“We'll display signage around the Club notifying patrons of the win and all staff will be spreading the news far and wide.

“It's very exciting to give away such a significant sum of money. It's the kind of win a lot of patrons look forward to, and not one that happens very often, so it's very special to be a part of this.

“At CSI we pride ourselves on making our patrons happy, and in this case we, along with Keno, have succeeded.

“We wish the lucky Keno winner all the best and look forward to celebrating the win with them.”

In FY25, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 76 million wins collectively worth more than $1.2 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 20 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $57.9 million. Four of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Townsville man who scored $4.4 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 27.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $450.7 million at pubs and clubs across the state in FY25.
