A Wee Waa man’s dream of owning his own home has now become a reality after winning a Keno 9 Spot prize of more than $147,000 on the weekend.

The New South Wales player held a Keno 9 Spot winning entry in game 120 on Saturday 7 March 2020 and takes home $147,817.40.

Confirming his win with a Keno official this morning, the man explained he was having a cup of coffee when he saw his win flash across the screen in the hotel.

“I’d just gone in for a cup of coffee and decided to try my luck and play some Keno,” he explained.

“The numbers I use are special to me and I have been playing them for years and years.

“I was actually watching the draw, so I saw my win come up on the screen.

“I honestly couldn’t believe it! I was gobsmacked.

“I was very excited. It’s great, mate.

“I had another coffee and a nice lunch to celebrate. You couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno prize, the overjoyed man said the win meant one of his dreams would finally become a reality.

“I am going to buy a home. I never thought it would be a possibility,” he admitted.

“I have already been to the real estate agent and I have a few inspections I want to go to.

“It’s very exciting!”

The winning Keno entry was purchased at Imperial Hotel, 104 Rose Street, Wee Waa.

Imperial Hotel owner Luke Noble said the venue was celebrating making one of their customers a Keno 9 Spot winner.

“It was great to have a big win at the venue. Just the other day we were saying how we couldn’t wait to have a major win soon,” he said.

“It’s amazing now it’s happened! It has created a real buzz in the venue.

“It was great to be a part of the winning experience. It’s something you won’t forget!

“We wish our winner all the very best with his prize.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $47.2 million.Nine of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle man who pocketed the biggest Keno jackpot in Australian history - a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize worth $7,898,799.30.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 34.19 million Keno wins totalling more than $472.51 million at pubs and clubs across the region in the 12 months to 30 June 2019.
