A Maitland woman says her Keno windfall couldn’t have come at a better time, explaining she recently lost her job due to Covid-19 shutdowns.

The New South Wales patron held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in game 670 on Friday 2 October 2020 and takes home a prize worth $58,783.10.

Confirming her win with an official from Keno this morning, the woman explained an inkling lead her to check her ticket.

“On Friday night I was up at the club for dinner but went home before checking my Keno ticket,” she explained.

“I couldn’t sleep so at 2am I decided to check my ticket online. I think I was wide awake for a reason!

“I couldn’t believe it.

“I went and woke up the whole family to tell them.

“It was so surreal, I think it’s still sinking in.

“It really made my weekend!”

The long-time Keno player explained the timing of her win couldn’t have been more perfect.

“It couldn’t have come at a better time!” she exclaimed.

“I lost my job because of COVID so this will really help me so much,” she said.

“We’re going to move houses and pay a few bills – it will take the pressure off.

“I still can’t believe it, it’s so exciting!”

The winning Keno Classic 8 Spot entry was purchased at Club Maitland City, 14 Arthur Street, Rutherford.

Club Maitland City Operations Manager Matt Johnston said it was great to see another major prize won by a local.

“We certainly feel as though we’re on a winning streak,” he said.

“It was just over a year ago when a local couple won $1.7 million on Keno.

“It’s always so nice to see these prizes go to our members and guests.

“Congratulations to our latest winner!”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 58.4 million wins collectively worth more than $776.79 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $38.72 million.  Ten of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle woman who was stunned to pocket a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.4 million.
