An Ipswich woman turned superstition on its head after scoring a jaw-dropping $70,000 Keno win on Friday the 13th.

The chirpy Queenslander scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot with a x2 Bonus in draw 189, drawn Friday 13 June 2025 and can look forward to $70,904.20.

When an official from Keno called to confirm the wondrous news, the winning woman was still buzzing with excitement.

“It’s a massive win! It’s still sinking in,” she said.

“I was just having dinner with friends, and I saw a couple of my numbers come up, but we weren’t really paying attention, so I had no idea how much I’d actually won at first.

“I thought I’d won a little bit, like $30 or so, but to win $70,000 was just mind-blowing.

“I’ve played Keno for the past year, and I usually play every Friday. I always put on the same numbers and just do a dollar a game with a Bonus. I’ve never won anything even close!

“It was so unexpected. My friends and I couldn’t stop cheering and just going ‘Wow!’ in disbelief.

“I’ll be able to do some much-needed renovations, and I would love to go on a holiday.

Ipswich Sports Club manager Jay Kumar said the team was ecstatic to sell a major prize-winning Keno ticket.

“It’s amazing. We’re so happy for our regular customer,” he said.

“We had a drink with her to celebrate, and we’ve been telling all our customers about the exciting news.

“This is the first time our club has sold a major prize-winning Keno ticket, so we’re thrilled.

“Well done to the winning woman. It’s gone to a super deserving person, and we’re so glad the win will help you.”
