A Helidon couple who say they have had a tough year are ready to celebrate after scoring a Keno 8 Spot prize worth over $62,000.

The couple held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 150 on Friday 12 July 2019 that scored a total prize of $62,934.10.

Confirming their win with a Keno official this morning, the winning woman revealed that despite watching the draw, she hadn’t realised they’d won the 8 Spot prize.

“I was watching the game on the screen with my hubby but then someone stepped up in front of us, so we didn’t see the final two numbers come up,” she shared.

“We thought we got six numbers, but then when we checked our ticket, they told us we got all eight!

“I screamed the pub down! We were ecstatic!

“We have had a bit of a rough year, so it was a really, really nice surprise.

“It’s come at the best time.”

The pair explained they planned to use their prize to go on a holiday they’ve been dreaming of for years.

“We want to put it away in the bank and have a think of it for a while,” the woman declared.

“But we’d love to go to Tassie for a few weeks and just relax.

“It’s beautiful there and we’ve been wanting to go for ages.

“I think we will celebrate this weekend with our family. We will go out for the night.”

The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning Keno entry at Withcott Hotel, 8604 Warrego Highway, Withcott.

Withcott Hotel owner Neil Simpson said the venue was celebrating making one of their customers an 8 Spot winner.

“We are very excited; we’ve never had a win like this before,” he said.

“The vibe was amazing when she discovered she won. Everyone was ecstatic for her.

“We are really happy for her, she’s a local and a very deserving winner.

“Hopefully this is the start of the winning streak and we have more big Keno wins soon.”

In 2018, Keno crowned 16 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $36.47 million.  Six of these major winners were Queenslanders.

Queenslanders won $25.87 million on average each month playing Keno in pubs and clubs across the state.

Last year in Queensland alone, players bought 34.76 million Keno tickets and won $310.64 million in cash prizes, including 494 individual 7, 8, 9, and 10 Spot jackpot prizes.
