A Worrigee man was mid-sip of his morning coffee when he discovered his $77,000 win in a recent Keno draw, but managed to keep his cool and coffee intact.

The Shoalhaven resident scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackopt in draw 540, drawn Monday 1 April 2025 and looks forward to a total prize of $77,657.50.

The winning man shared that he had come close to winning a major Keno prize multiple times in the past.

“I’m in a bit of shock. It’s the biggest win I’ve ever had in my life,” he exclaimed.

“I’ve always been one number off from winning the jackpot, so I’m surprised that I had actually won.

“I was enjoying a cup of coffee while waiting for my friend to turn up at the local café, and I decided to check my ticket on the Keno app to pass some time.

“It came up with ‘major Keno win’ and I was stunned. I went to my friend, ‘Look! Look! I’ve won!’.

“Then I couldn’t stop shaking, and I needed to sit for a bit. He told me, ‘You need to come over and enjoy a bottle of wine to relax and celebrate’, and we did exactly that.

“It’s come at the most perfect time.”

The New South Welshman couldn’t wait to use his prize to tackle his long-overdue home repairs and trade in his old ride for a well-deserved upgrade.

“There’s a lot of stuff I can do with the win. I need to do the house up, starting with the roof. I also need a new shed, and a new hot water system,” he said.

“My fridge of 16 years also nearly died. This win is a huge help.

“My car is getting old, so I’ll upgrade that too.

“Thank you very much!”

His winning entry was purchased at Worrigee Sports, 131 Greenwell Point Road, Worrigee.
