A Footscray man has banished the Monday blues and is celebrating this morning’s discovery he won $100,000 – his second major Keno win.

The thrilled player held a Keno Classic winning entry in draw 104, drawn Sunday 10 January 2021 and takes home a total prize of $100,000.

Confirming his win with an official from Keno this morning, the Melbourne resident said he’d had an unforgettable start to the week.

“Before I left the hotel last night, I decided to put a Keno ticket on,” he explained.

“I always play 40 numbers.

“I went home and didn’t think to check the results online, and so I went into the hotel this morning and got them to check the ticket.

“They told me they’d had a big win in the club and then said it was me.

“It’s a great feeling! This isn’t the first time I’ve had a big win on Keno. I won a nice prize a few years ago as well!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno windfall, the man said he knew exactly what he’d be doing with it.

“This is going to help me out a lot,” he said.

“I’m going to get a bunch of renos done around the house.

“It will be great!”

The Keno Classic winning entry was purchased at Courthouse Hotel, 166, Nicholson Street, Footscray.

Courthouse Hotel manager Jon Lister-Smith said it was the biggest Keno win the hotel had celebrated in recent times.

“It was surreal to see someone in the venue win such a great prize,” he said.

“It was a fantastic feeling for us and our patrons, and it’s great to see this prize go to a regular and local man.

“Congratulations to them!”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 58.4 million wins collectively worth more than $776.79 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $38.72 million.  Three of these major prize winners were from Victoria, including a Hasting man who was lost for words after winning a Keno 10 Spot prize of more than $2.6 million.

Victorians enjoyed more than 3.22 million Keno wins totalling more than $49 million in the 12 months to 30 June 2020.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.
