A Sawtell resident or visitor has started the week as a newly-minted millionaire after scoring $1.5 million in a Keno draw over the weekend, but first they need to check their ticket and discover their good fortune.

The Coffs Harbour player bagged the Keno Classic 10 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 748, drawn Saturday 6 September and can look forward to a total prize of $1,571.063.30.

The winning entry was purchased at Sawtell RSL Club, 38-40 First Avenue, Sawtell.

Sawtell RSL Club general manager Greg Agius said he and the team were thrilled to sell a major prize-winning Keno entry.

“This is the first 10 Spot prize we’ve had, so it’s huge news. We’re all very happy and excited,” he said.

“We’ve been letting everyone know that the club has sold the winning ticket and reminding everyone to check their tickets if they were in on Saturday.

“Congratulations to the winning person! We hope you check your ticket and come forward soon. We wish you all the best.”

Keno spokesperson Khat McIntyre said the mystery winner was most likely walking around with no idea they’d pocketed a whopping $1.5 million over the weekend.

“We’re urging anyone who purchased a Keno ticket from Sawtell RSL Club to check their tickets as soon as possible,” she said.

“While we haven’t been able to confirm the life-changing news with this jackpot winner, we’re sure that when they do discover their newfound fortune, they’ll be absolutely thrilled.

“With $1.5 million in your back pocket, you could be jetting off around the globe, buying a home or helping your nearest and dearest.

“Winning tickets have been found in all sorts of places. Be sure to check your handbag, car glove box, your bedside table and anywhere else the Keno ticket may be hiding.”
