A Caboolture man’s run-of-the-mill Sunday roast dinner has been turned on its head after discovering he’d won a $54,000 Keno prize.

The winning Queenslander held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 707, drawn Sunday 19 June 2022. His total prize was $54,473.50.

Confirming his win with an official from Keno today, the Queensland man explained the chain of events that led to his winning moment.

“It was a spur-of-the-moment decision that’s led to a $54,000 win. I’m stoked!” he proclaimed.

“I just ducked into the tavern, put on a ticket and rushed home to keep cooking the Sunday roast.

“As I sat down to dinner, I thought I’d check my numbers and, at first glance, I thought I’d hit seven numbers.

“When I looked closely and realised I’d hit all eight, I was over the moon.

“It’s the second time I’ve won in about a decade. I can’t believe it.

“I’ll be settling down now and looking to retirement. This is going to be a fantastic boost.”

His winning entry was purchased at Club Tavern Caboolture, 15 Matthew Terrace, Caboolture.

Club Tavern Caboolture spokesperson Sharon Bigalla said the team was so excited to see one of their patrons win.

“We’ve been celebrating at the venue and telling everyone we’ve sold a major Keno prize,” she said.

“Lots of people have been so excited to hear that one of our patrons has won. Everyone’s hoping it is them next time!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them all the very best with their prize.”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 13 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $31 million.  Six of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Gladstone man who won a Keno Classic 10 Spot prize of more than $2.1 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 17.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $264.98 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2021.
