A Coomera woman’s favourite number is now zero after scoring $50,000 on a Keno Classic 40 Spot entry, thanks to none of her marked numbers coming up during the draw.

The stoked woman held a Keno Classic 40 Spot entry in draw 178, drawn Saturday 20 March 2021.

Sharing her excitement with an official from Keno this morning, the winner revealed how she came to hold her winning entry.

“Oh my god! It’s life changing!” she exclaimed.

“I was just down at the tavern with friends, and we were chatting about the different types of tickets you can play.

“They were saying they usually play a 10 Spot, but I said, ‘I’m going to have a go at getting 20 out the 40’. They laughed at me! Well, who is laughing now!

“I chose my numbers using my kids and grandkids’ birthdays and things like that. But it didn’t matter because none of them came up!

“I was watching the game and I saw I had no numbers. I thought I might have won something, but I wasn’t sure.

“It wasn’t until it came up on the screen that someone in the venue won $50,000 that I knew I had won.

“It’s amazing! I’ve never won anything before in my life!

“We stayed to celebrate with a few drinks but then we went home and had two-minute noodles for dinner because we had nothing in the house!”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her Keno fun money, the Gold Coast resident revealed it had come at a great time after a tough year.

“I’m a small business owner and the last year has been a bit of a struggle with everything going on,” she explained.

“This win will just take the pressure off. I’ll be able to breathe.

“Most of it will be going towards my mortgage. It will take about 10 years off the repayments so that’s an incredible feeling.

“I’ve already put my car in for a service and I’ll pay off my car loan.

“It’s a great feeling!

“I also went out and did some grocery shopping – no more two-minute noodles for me! I’ve bought steaks and lamb chops so we can cook up a proper celebration dinner!”

The winning entry was purchased at The Boathouse Tavern, 101 Dreamworld Parkway, Coomera.

The Boathouse Tavern venue manager Shane Magee said he was thrilled a regular customer had scored a major Keno prize.

“It’s amazing to hear one of our locals has walked away $50,000 richer!” he exclaimed.

“The win certainly created a bit of a buzz in the venue over the weekend.

“Congratulations to our winner! We hope she enjoys her prize!”
