A Mooloolaba tourist has had an extra special holiday after discovering he won more than $78,000 on Keno yesterday evening.
The excited man held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 253 on Thursday 10 May 2019 that scored a total prize of $78,996.30.
The traveller described the moment he discovered he won the Keno 8 Spot prize.
“I was sitting down watching the game, ticking off the numbers one by one on my ticket and I thought ‘you ripper, I just got eight numbers!’.” he laughed.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw all the numbers.
“You beauty! It is good!
“I rang my missus straight away and said, ‘we’ve just had a big win love!’
“She laughed and said ‘I’ll believe it when I see it.’ She didn’t want to get too excited just in case I didn’t actually win.
“I was elated when it was confirmed and celebrated that night!
“I am very grateful for the win. I felt like doing cartwheels!
“It’s made my holiday even better.”
When asked how he planned to use his prize, the excited man said it would go towards paying off his mortgage.
“It’s come at the perfect time! It’s very nice and it really helps us out,” he explained.
“We will put it on the mortgage. We will be very sensible with it.”
The Queensland man purchased his winning Keno entry at O’Malley’s Mooloolaba, 1 Venning Street, Mooloolaba.
O’Malley’s Mooloolaba shift manager Georgi Cassidy said she was thrilled for the winning customer.
“It is such great news!” she said.
“We are so happy for him and wish him all the best with his prize.
“Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak and we sell some more big Keno prizes soon!”
In 2018, Keno crowned 16 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $36.47 million. Six of these major winners were Queenslanders.
Queenslanders won $25.87 million on average each month playing Keno in pubs and clubs across the state.
Last year in Queensland alone, players bought 34.76 million Keno tickets and won $310.64 million in cash prizes, including 494 individual 7, 8, 9, and 10 Spot jackpot prizes.
