A Woolgoolga man’s completely ordinary Sunday night became extraordinary when he popped into his local club for dinner and walked out with an extra $63,000 thanks to a Keno win.

The New South Wales patron held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in game 447 on Sunday 27 June 2021, worth $63,710.10.

Speaking with an official from Keno this afternoon, the ecstatic man explained how his win unfolded.

“I can’t believe it! I thought it was just a normal Sunday, but it was so much better than I could have ever imagined,” he laughed.

“I wasn’t actually there when the draw happened. Every couple of weeks I go and have a meal at the club with my family.

“Recently, I started playing some Keno and this Sunday, I was just feeling lucky, so I decided to give it a go.

“I was so distracted that I left and didn’t even think about the ticket.

“The next day, when I was on my way to work, I remembered I had it still and that’s when I checked it.

“When I saw what I won, I screamed ‘woo-hoo, yee haw!’. There was lots of cheering and jumping up and down.

“I called my wife and told her straight away and she was so excited too! She couldn’t stop crying.

“We are planning to have a big dinner with our family and break the news to them then.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno fun money, the overjoyed dad said he had one thing in mind.

“It means we will be able to buy some land to build our dream home,” he shared.

“We’ve been planning to do it for a while now, so this just helps us finally do it.”

The winning Keno entry was purchased at Woolgoolga Returned Services Club, 17 Beach Street, Woolgoolga.

Woolgoolga Returned Services Club CEO Glenn Buckley said he was celebrating another major win at the venue.

“It’s very exciting news,” he said.

“We actually sold a 8 Spot winning entry just a few weeks ago, so we’re feeling a bit lucky at the moment.

“Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak.

“These major wins are so exciting and always create a buzz in the venue! So we really can’t wait for our next one.

“Congratulations to our winner. We hope this win was a great surprise.”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 19 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $42.3 million.  Nine of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle woman who was stunned to pocket a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.4 million.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 25.3 million Keno wins totalling more than $393.2 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2020.
