A group of Mackay mates are looking forward to a fortuitous fishing trip after discovering they hooked more than $59,000 in a game of Keno.

The Sunshine State residents scored a Keno Classic jackpot in draw 61, drawn Monday 5 August 2024, and pocketed a total prize of $59,565.50.

“Everyone’s very excited,” one of the winning men said while speaking to an official from Keno.

“I was with three of my mates. We always enjoy playing a game of Keno.

“It’s a great way to get together and catch up.

“We couldn’t believe it when we saw our combination come up.

“It’s pretty amazing!

“We’ve already decided we’ll go on a fishing trip to celebrate and have a few quiet beers.

“Then I’ll put a bit towards the home loan and I’m sure the other guys will have similar ideas.

“Thank you so much!”

Their winning entry was purchased at Magpies Sporting Club, 1 Glenella Rd, Mackay.

Magpies Sporting Club supervisor Jesse Brown said the team couldn’t be happier to see locals take home a big win.

“The team and I were thrilled to see regular patrons win at Keno,” she said.

“The winning players had been delightful that afternoon, sharing laughs and engaging warmly with the staff. We were genuinely pleased that their visit ended with a winning ticket.

“The buzz was palpable in the venue. Staff and patrons alike joined in to congratulate the winners, adding to the excitement of the evening.

“We’ve been proudly promoting and celebrating the win throughout the club and on socials.

Congratulations to the winning friends and their family. We hope they all enjoy a wonderful holiday together, creating cherished memories.

“We deeply value every one of our patrons and truly enjoy seeing them have a great time. “We look forward to continuing to support our cherished guests at Magpies Sporting Club for many years to come.”
