A Wauchope player is walking into the week more than $50,000 richer after taking home a major Keno prize on the weekend.

The Mid North Coast resident held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 359, drawn Sunday 21 August 2022. Their total windfall was $53,203.80.

However, how they plan to enjoy their fun money will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.

The winning Keno entry was purchased at Wauchope RSL Club, Cnr Cameron & Young Streets, Wauchope.

Wauchope RSL Club secretary manager Tina O’Connell said the entire team was ecstatic for the winner.

“Our supervisor on duty was Ashley Dixon, and she has the pleasure of telling all of our customers that there was a Keno 8 Spot win in the venue!” she said.

“All of the patrons were so excited. They all came up to the Keno screen to see if they’d won the exciting prize. Everyone was so happy – there were many cheers and laughter!

“It’s been around five years since our last big jackpot in Keno, which was also a Keno 8 Spot prize, so we’re overjoyed with the news. This is the start of a winning streak!

“We would love to congratulate the winner and thank them for supporting our venue. They’re very deserving of the prize!”

Keno spokesperson Anna Hobdell said discovering the win was sure to have put a smile on the winner’s face.

“While we may never know how this winner plans to enjoy their Keno prize, we have no doubt they are walking around today grinning from ear to ear after discovering their life-enhancing win,” she said.

“Other winners tell us they use their windfall to help their families, buy a new house, upgrade their home with renovations or indulged on a holiday.

“However our Keno winner chooses to use their prize, we hope they can enjoy the winning feeling as long as they can!”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 13 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $31 million.  Six of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including Crescent Head neighbours who pocketed a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.8 million.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 17.36 million Keno wins totalling more than $292 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2020.
