It might be a rainy day in Wallsend today, but for one Keno player their day is a whole light brighter after taking home a $62,000 win.

The Newcastle resident held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 969, drawn Wednesday 20 April 2022. Their total windfall was $62,493.80.

So far in 2022, there have been four major Keno wins in the Illawarra and Southeast New South Wales region that have collectively scored $386,200.60.

However, how they plan to enjoy their Keno prize will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.

The winning Keno entry was purchased at Colliery Inn Hotel, 87 Cowper Road, Wallsend.

Colliery Inn Hotel licensee Nathan Daley said the entire team was celebrating the major Keno win in their venue.

“It’s really great to see!” he shared.

“Not only is it great for our venue to have a major Keno win, but it’s wonderful for the community. It’s fantastic seeing the win go to a local patron who has been supporting us for a lifetime.

“It’s a great win for the Newcastle community, so as you can imagine, everyone is talking about it in the venue.

“We’re all so happy for the winner and hope they can use their prize in many incredible ways. Congratulations to the winner and we wish them all the best with their future endeavours!”

Keno spokesperson Anna Hobdell said discovering the life-enhancing Keno win was sure to put a smile on the mystery winner’s face.

“While we may never know how this winner plans to enjoy their prize, we have no doubt they are walking around today grinning from ear to ear after discovering their win,” she said.

“Other winners tell us they use their windfall to help their families, buy a new house, upgrade their home with renovations or splurge a new car.

“However our winner chooses to use their fun money, we hope they enjoy the winning feeling as long as they can.”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.
