A Townsville woman is happily spending the rest of the week planning how she’ll enjoy the $101,000 Keno Classic prize she won last week.

The North Queenslander held a Keno Classic 9 Spot winning entry in draw 461, drawn Friday 26 March 2021, and takes home $101,593.30.

“We were down at the club having some dinner, just as we usually do,” she explained to a Keno official.

“I play Keno when I’m there and I put on the ticket and forgot about it.

“When I saw later that someone at the club had won, of course I hoped it would be me!

“I scanned my ticket and thought ‘can it be true?’.

“I was so excited!”

With more than $100,000 about to hit her bank account, the regular player explained she was still deciding exactly how she wanted to enjoy her Keno fun money.

“I’m going to save it for a rainy day,” she said.

“It will really take the pressure off while I think about what I may want to do with my prize.”

The winning entry was purchased at Kirwan Sports and Community Club, 159 Bamford Lane, Kirwan.

Kirwan Sports and Community Club Operations Manager Allyson Pascoe said it was the biggest Keno win the venue had celebrated.

“We were waiting patiently for the winner to claim their prize and we were so happy when they did and it was one of our regulars,” she said.

“We haven’t had a big Keno win here for a long time, so we certainly hope this is the beginning of plenty more.

“A big congratulations to our winner from our whole team. We are excited to have been able to sell a winning ticket that will make a huge difference to someone’s life!”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 19 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $42.3 million.  Eight of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Gold Coast man who won a Keno Classic 10 Spot prize of more than $2.02 million.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 18.59 million Keno wins totalling more than $264.42 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2020.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.
