A Port Hedland man has dubbed Queensland “his lucky state” after scoring a $60,000 Keno prize, just a year after winning $18,000 during his last visit.

The Townsville visitor scored the Keno Mega Millions 7 Spot jackpot in draw 30, drawn Wednesday 18 December 2024, and pocketed a total of $60,805.20.

Speaking to a Keno official, the gleeful man was still buzzing with excitement, sharing that the windfall came on the very first day of his Christmas holidays.

“What a way to kick off my first day of holidays!” he laughed.

“I’m here visiting from Port Hedland for Christmas so it’s certainly a nice holiday boost.

“It’s funny because last time I was here in Queensland about a year ago, I played a game of Keno, and I won $18,000. I think it’s my lucky state.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw all my numbers come up. It was my last game, and I got all seven numbers. It was awesome.

“I normally choose my numbers in an X shape or a circle, but this time, I chose them in the shape of a Y. I don’t know why!”

When asked how he planned to use his newfound festive fortune, the jubilant man said he looked forward to working on his car.

“I’ll be able to do up my car,” he shared.

“Thank you so much. It’s great news.”

His winning entry was purchased from Vale Hotel, 222 Ross River Road, Aitkenvale.

The Vale Hotel team said they were thrilled to play a part in someone’s life-enhancing win and wished the fortunate winner a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
