Almost a week after the game, a Townsville man has come forward to claim his Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot win.

The North Queensland player held a Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot winning entry in game 009 on Saturday 11 July 2020 and takes home $89,697.90.

Confirming his win with an official from Keno this morning, the man said he was shocked to discover he’d been holding onto a ticket worth $89,000.

“I didn’t realise for almost a week!” he laughed.

“It wasn’t until I went back to the venue over the weekend and they told me that they were still looking for the winner that I remembered I hadn’t checked my Keno tickets.

“I scanned it, and there it was $89,000.

“I was in shock! It was very exciting.”

When asked what the North Queenslander had planned for his Keno fun money, the winner had plenty of ideas.

“Well, I’ve got some renos that need doing around the house,” he said.

“It will be great to get those done without having to worry.

“Then I’d love to get some work done on my bike and car.”

The winning Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot entry was purchased at Dalrymple Hotel, 310 Bayswater Road, Garbutt.

Dalrymple Hotel spokesperson Geoff Riley said the team was happily sharing the excitement with their major Keno winner.

“What an incredible win for our patron! It’s always great hearing these winning stories and now we have another one to share with our patrons,” he said.

“We’re thrilled for our customer and we hope to see more Keno winners in our venue soon.

“Congratulations to them. We have no doubt they’ll enjoying their prize!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
