A Thurgoona dad has explained he almost fell off his chair when he checked his Keno Mega Millions ticket to discover he was suddenly more than $100,000 richer.

The New South Wales player held a Keno Mega Millions 8 Spot winning entry in game 540 on Sunday 8 August 2021 and takes home $117,006.80.

Confirming his win with an official from Keno this morning, the winner relived the moment he made the exciting discovery.

“I’ve been playing Keno for years,” he explained.

“That’s my local club, and I usually choose my numbers based on the top right-hand corner of the Keno screen.

“I was at home when I checked my ticket, and I almost fell off my chair when I saw I’d won a major prize.

“I thought there was something wrong with the app, so I checked the ticket about five times.

“I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited!”

With his Keno fun money about to hit his bank account, the Thurgoona resident said his prize would take the pressure off in a big way.

“It will be such a great help,” he said.

“I’ll be able to do plenty with it. I’ll help my family, spoil the kids. It will be great!”

The Keno Mega Millions winning entry was purchased at Thurgoona Country Club Resort, 1 Evesham Place, Thurgoona.

Thurgoona Country Club Resort employee Rachel Gallagher said it was the biggest Keno win the club had celebrated.

“It was such an exciting surprise for the venue!” she said.

“We’re so happy for our winner. It’s really nice to see this prize go to a local and loyal member.

“Congratulations to him!”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.
