A Townsville retiree can’t wait to tick several items off the family wish-list after scoring $60,000 in a Keno draw over the weekend.

The Far North Queenslander scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 568, drawn Sunday 9 June 2024 and can look forward to a total prize of $60,720.00.

“I honestly struggled to sleep last night!” he exclaimed.

“Everyone started to go off in the Keno venue and I didn’t particularly know what was going on.

“Everyone else knew that there was a major Keno win, except me – the winner!

“Honestly, I would be happy to win just $9, so $60,000 is amazing.

“We always go to Dalrymple Hotel to play a game of trivia as a family and while we’re there we put on a game of Keno.

“We’re keen to replace all of our electronics – new iPads, new phones.

“It’s not a necessity but they’re getting pretty outdated.

“I wouldn’t mind looking at some car models too.

“Some new toys I guess!”

His Keno Classic winning entry was purchased at Dalrymple Hotel, 310 Bayswater Road, Garbutt.

Dalrymple Hotel manager Matt Jeboult said it feels amazing to have sold a major Keno winning entry to a local customer.

“It’s such great news. We’re so happy to hear it went to a local customer and someone who regularly supports us,” he said.

“Everyone who was around was abuzz with excitement knowing a surrounding patron had won.

“Congratulations to the winner. We hope they’ll be able to buy something they’ve always wanted!”

In 2023, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 67.31 million wins collectively worth more than $1 billion.

During this time, Keno crowned 21 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $51.5 million. Seven of these major winners were Queenslanders, including a Kallangur man who won $8.45 million after scoring the Keno Classic and Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot jackpots in the one draw.

Queenslanders enjoyed more than 21.79 million Keno wins totaling more than $349.14 million at pubs and clubs across the state in 2023.
