A Sydney CBD office worker has received a bonus pay day he didn’t see coming, winning a Keno prize of $59,000 on his way home from work.
The New South Wales player held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 135 on Tuesday 3 March 2020 and takes home $59,635.40.
Confirming his win with a Keno official this morning, the man explained the excitement unfolded when he met a friend after work.
“I was just sitting there chatting to a mate of mine and I’d decided to replay an old Keno ticket,” he explained.
“We were just catching up after work and I was on the last game and a couple of my numbers appeared on the screen.
“And then all of a sudden we heard someone in the venue had won $59,000 and I instantly had a feeling it was me!
“It was very nice! It was a very exciting Tuesday afternoon.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno prize, the Sydney winner said he’d be splurging.
“My wife and I are heading overseas on a big holiday soon,” he explained.
“We will definitely be living it up!”
The winning Keno entry was purchased at Club York, 95-99 York Street, Sydney.
Club York Operations Manager Nathan Mills said it was the biggest Keno win the venue had celebrated in a long time.
“We were so happy for our patron. He’s a regular here at the pub and we were all so excited for him,” he said.
“He’s very well deserving and there was plenty of excitement in the venue when the prize went off.
“Congratulations to our winner! We hope this is the first of many for our patrons.”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
