From renter to future homeowner, a Tarneit man is ready to open the door on a new chapter in his family’s life after pocketing a $1.3 million Keno win this week.
The Melburnian scored the Keno Classic 10 Spot jackpot in Keno draw 797, drawn Tuesday 15 July 2025. He looks forward to $1,314,704.00.
So far in 2025, there have been three major Keno wins in Melbourne’s west region that have collectively taken home more than $1.44 million in prize money.
“I had a day off, so I decided to go over to the local venue and have a bit of a dabble on Keno,” he exclaimed when speaking to a Keno official.
“I was sitting with two mates, and we noticed the Keno jackpot had gone off in the hotel.
“The team member came over to us and said, ‘You’ve won! You’ve won!’, and I just said to her, ‘What are you on about?! Surely not!’. I thought I had won $50 at first.
“Bang! The next thing I knew, everyone in the club was aware of the win. I couldn’t believe it. Things like this don’t happen to me!
“It’s the most perfect timing because we purchased a new car last week, and now we’ve scored this prize!
“I ended up shouting the team member a drink. It was a great night. I’m the Keno man!”
“We’re looking to buy a house again. We used to have one but have been renting.
“It would be great to go back into the property market!
“Thank you very much!”
His winning entry was purchased at Hotel520, 520 Sayers Road, Tarneit.
Hotel520 general manager Julie Shelton and assistant manager Renee Clarke said they were excited to have sold a major Keno winning entry.
“We couldn’t be happier for our winner and his lovely wife and family!” Julie said.
“All of the regular customers in the Sports Bar were very happy for him, and there were lots of hugs and cheers.
“We went over to the winner once we knew who it was and congratulated him on the win. He looked a bit shellshocked!
“We asked the winner if he had told his wife, who we also know very well, and he told us he had and she was crying on the phone.
“We’re so proud and happy to be involved with such an enormous win. Congratulations!”
