A hardworking Lightning Ridge miner has celebrated his Keno 8 Spot win by shouting his mates a steak at the local pub.
The regional New South Wales man held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 856 on Monday 21 January 2019, scoring $88,624.90.
Confirming his win with a Keno official today, the stoked bloke said over the past few months he’d had a few close calls playing Keno but had never scored a major prize before.
“I’ve been playing Keno for years and I’ve had seven out of eight numbers more than a dozen times,” he explained.
“On Monday I was counting my numbers as they appeared and when the eighth number popped up, I couldn’t bloody believe it.
“I had to check it about three times to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.”
The regional New South Wales man said he wants to put his Keno win back into the local community, which has been struggling through severe drought.
“It’s great to be able to buy from the local butcher and shout some meals at the local pub,” he said.
“I’ll give some of my win to my mates and invest in some new mining gear.
“A new hoist is at the top of my list.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning Keno 8 Spot entry at Lightning Ridge Outback Resort, Onyx Street, Lightning Ridge.
Lightning Ridge Outback Resort owner Andrew Dowd said his venue had never sold an 8 Spot winning entry before.
“This win has been so exciting for the local community,” he said.
“The drought is severe out here and has been for years so this creates a lot of optimism and positivity among locals.
“It’s great to see big wins land in the bush.”
