The revelation of a $66,000 Keno win kept a Gold Coast woman awake all night, worried she’d fall asleep and wake up to it all being just a dream.
The Queensland player held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 433, drawn Thursday 3 February 2022. Her total prize was $66,623.90.
This morning, an official from Keno reached out to the winner, who was still struggling to comprehend the amazing news.
“I headed to my local last night to have some dinner and play Keno,” she explained.
“I was having dinner when the draw happened, so I saw the win come up on the screen.
“I initially thought, ‘Yep, that’s my prize!’. But I was only being silly. I didn’t actually think I’d won it, I just hoped I did.
“Once I’d finished my dinner, I went up and checked my ticket and that’s when they told me I’d won.
“I cried, ‘Are you kidding me? Did I really win it? This is a dream come true!’. I couldn’t believe it!
“You always hope you’re going to win, but you never think it’s going to happen.
“It’s amazing! I’m stoked! What a great way to end the week.
“I went home straight after I found out, but I didn’t sleep a wink. I kept tossing and turning and thinking about the prize all night.
“I haven’t celebrated yet, but I am going to get a nice bottle of wine for the weekend.
“I’m going to use the prize to pay off the mortgage and then we’re thinking of going on a little holiday to celebrate.
“I’ve got to splurge a little on something fun!”
The winning entry was purchased at The Star Gold Coast, Broadbeach Island, Gold Coast Highway, Broadbeach.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.
