A Russell Island man has proven it pays to trust your gut after a last-minute hunch to shake up his beloved Keno numbers and add the number ‘57’ delivered a dreamy $100,000 win.

The Redland resident scored the Keno Classic 9 Spot jackpot in draw 935, drawn Tuesday 19 May 2026. He looks forward to a total prize of $100,988.40.

When an official from Keno rang to confirm his prize this morning, the delighted dad was still floating on cloud nine after seeing his numbers come up.

“I’m feeling very happy this morning!” he said.

“I just went for a dabble yesterday afternoon and somehow things fell into place.

“I always play my favourite set of numbers – including my wife and children’s birthdays.

“I don’t know why, but something told me they needed a small tweak yesterday.

“For some reason, I thought I’d throw in the number ‘57’, which I’d never normally play. The rest of my ticket was all my usual favourites.

“I guess ‘57’ is my lucky number after all.”

Still coming to terms with his six-figure win, the thrilled dad revealed he wanted to remain grounded and share the prize with family.

“I don’t really need anything, and I love my life here,” he said.

“I’d like to surprise my wife and grandkids with some of it. It’ll certainly help us out.”

His winning Keno Classic entry was purchased at The Russell Island Bowls Club, 37-71 Jackson Road, Russell Island.
