After discovering he won more than $2 million in Keno, a Rocklea man cancelled all of his plans and spent the day celebrating with his family.

The Brisbane player held a Keno Classic 10 Spot winning entry in draw 455, drawn Tuesday 17 August 2021 and takes home $1,927,590.90.

In addition, he also held a winning Keno Classic 8 Spot ticket in the same draw, adding another $50,192.30 to his windfall.

Speaking with an official from Keno this morning, the jubilant winner relayed the moment he realised his life had changed forever.

“I have a bit of a tradition of playing some Keno each week,” he explained.

“I go down and have a bite to eat and play a few games.

“I wasn’t actually there when the draw happened. I received a call from one of the girls there to come down and check my ticket.

“It was a shock! It was a huge shock when I saw I’d won!

“Honestly, I was totally gobsmacked. I went into shock more than anything!

“I didn’t believe it then, and to be honest, I still don’t believe it now.

“I don’t think it will feel real until I see the money in my bank account.

“I need to come to terms with the shock of this! It’s a huge win.

“The reason I didn’t answer any of your calls yesterday was because I was out celebrating with my kids all day!

“And then I didn’t sleep a wink last night – I kept tossing and turning! I had so much adrenaline. I couldn’t stop thinking about the win and what I’d do with it.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno fun money, the stoked bloke thought of his family first.

“This is going to be life-changing for my family. I am going to give a portion of it to each of my kids,” he shared.

“I might get the house done up a bit as well, but most of it will be enjoyed by my family.”

The winning entry was purchased at Rocklea Hotel, 1337 Ipswich Road, Rocklea.

Rocklea Hotel owners Sam and Nick Ingham-Myers said they couldn’t be happier to see a local customer win a Keno 10 Spot prize.

“We were so excited for our winner – what a life-changing win,” Sam said.

“We will be having a party with all of our patrons to celebrate this incredible winning moment!

“All of our customers have been so pumped and congratulating us on this win.

“It’s certainly created a buzz in the venue, and all of our customers are hoping they’re next to win a 10 Spot prize.”

“There hasn’t been a major Keno win here in a while; however, we have so many great Keno wins here all of the time,” Nick added.

“We would love to say congratulations to our winner.

“He has been a loyal customer for many years and has always supported our family-owned business so that we couldn’t be happier for him.

“Everyone always calls us a lucky venue and we can now see why!”

In 2020, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 59.9 million wins collectively worth more than $840.6 million.
