A Redland Bay mum is eager to continue giving back to charities she holds close to her heart after taking home an $80,000 prize in a recent Keno draw.
The Queenslander scored the Keno 8 jackpot in Keno draw 996, drawn Sunday 20 August 2023 and takes home a total prize of $80,358.30.
The winning woman was out celebrating her birthday with a group of friends when she decided to play a game of Keno over dinner.
“I was in such shock when it happened,” she cheered.
“It was my birthday last week and we decided to celebrate at the local club on the weekend. We had a couple of drinks over dinner.
“The win had come up and I couldn’t believe it. It was a great surprise.
“I decided to shout a couple of drinks to my friends at the bar after that – what a way to finish the birthday celebrations!
“I try to help out a lot of people. I’ve donated to many charities, and I will continue to do so.
“I’ll also look to help my family as well.
“I’m very grateful for this win.”
Her winning entry was purchased at Redland Bay Hotel, 160 Broadwater Terrace, Redland Bay.
The Redland Bay Hotel venue manager Lisa Day said the entire venue broke out in a celebration after discovering the Keno 8 Ways went off in the club.
“It was so exciting when the jackpot went off in the venue on the weekend. The entire atmosphere changed when customers realised,” she said.
“I believe it’s the first time we’ve sold a winning Keno entry over $50,000. We’ve had many Keno wins here and there but never this big.
“On behalf of the entire team at Redland Bay Hotel we wish our winner all the best and hope the prize goes a long way!”
