While most Keno winners like to use their windfalls to ditch household chores, one Potts Point man can’t wait to buy a new lawn mower and spend more time in his yard after winning more than $96,000.

The New South Wales player held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in game 847 on Tuesday 2 November 2021 and took home $96,805.60.

Confirming his prize with an official from Keno this afternoon, the Sydney man explained this wasn’t the first time he’d had a big win.

“I had bought a few games, but I left before the draw happened, so I had no idea about the win,” he explained.

“One of my mates called me and told me that someone had won the 8 Spot prize at the Vegas Hotel and to come and check my tickets.

“I never in a million years thought I’d be the winner, so I waited until the next day to head down there.

“When I finally checked the ticket, the lady told me I’d won, and I got the shock of my life.

“It’s funny, because you always think you’ll win, but when it happens, it doesn’t hit you straight away. It feels more like a dream.

“I’d won a rather big prize in Keno about 10 years ago, but this is even better!

“I am so grateful for this win. It’s made me a very happy man. I hope more people can have a win like me!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the humble man admitted he wanted to spread the joy.

“It’s really hard to think about what to do with this prize,” he laughed.

“I really love my yard, so I might get myself a new mower. The garden could use some work too, so It’d be great to spend some time and money doing that up a bit.

“And I’d love to donate some too! I’ve had two big wins now, so of course, some of it should be enjoyed by those who really need it.”

The Keno Classic winning entry was purchased at Vegas Hotel, 54 Darlinghurst Road, Potts Point.

Vegas Hotel team member Rina Iuchi said the entire team was celebrating alongside their winner.

“We were so excited when the win happened,” she said.

“The winner is a lovely man, and we couldn’t be happier for him. He’s very deserving!

“This is a big moment for us, and we’ve been sharing the news with all of our patrons. Everyone in the venue is stoked for us, the winner and the community.

“Hopefully, more of our patrons have big wins soon.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 19 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $43.69 million. Ten of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including Crescent Head neighbours who won a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize of more than $5.82 million.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 34.19 million Keno wins totalling more than $472.51 million at pubs and clubs across the state in FY21.

Keno players can also enter into the monthly second chance draw for the chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes by scanning their ticket at win.secondchance.keno.com.au.
