A North Lakes woman has had a commute home from work she’ll never forget, checking her Keno entry on the train to discover she’d won almost $225,000.

The shocked Moreton Bay region resident held a Keno 9 Spot winning entry in game 73 on Thursday 27 June 2019 that scored a total prize of $224,775.80.

Confirming her prize with a Keno official this morning, the winner explained what went through her mind when she discovered the life-changing revelation.

“I was travelling home from work on the train and I thought I’d jump online and check my ticket and that’s when I realised I’d won!” she exclaimed.

“I think I went numb actually! I couldn’t believe my luck.

“Once it was confirmed a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, it just feels great.

“It’s such a fantastic prize!”

The shocked Queensland player said she had plenty of exciting plans for her prize.

“It really has come at such a good time,” she said.

“I’ll pay off the mortgage and do some home renovations.

“And I’ll certainly be celebrating with a holiday overseas!”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno entry at Captain Cook Tavern, Peninsula Fair Shopping Centre, Anzac Avenue, Kippa-Ring.

Captain Cook Tavern spokesperson Ben Dyson said the team was so excited to see one of their patrons win.

“We’ve been celebrating at the venue and telling everyone we’ve sold a major Keno prize,” he said.

“Lots of people have been so excited to hear that one of our patrons has won. Everyone’s hoping it is them next time!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them all the very best with their prize.”

In 2018, Keno crowned 16 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $36.47 million.Six of these major winners were Queenslanders.

Queenslanders won $25.87 million on average each month playing Keno in pubs and clubs across the state.

Last year in Queensland alone, players bought 34.76 million Keno tickets and won $310.64 million in cash prizes, including 494 individual 7, 8, 9, and 10 Spot jackpot prizes.

More chances to win!

In late 2017, Keno released Mega Millions – a higher jackpot version of the current “Classic” Keno that uses the same Keno ball draw but gives players the chance to win $5 million or more every three minutes with a spend of $2 – just $1 more than the current game.

Keno is a fun, easy game played approximately every three minutes. Twenty numbers are drawn from the 80 available on the Keno display screen. Players simply match their numbers to the numbers drawn for a chance to win over $1,000,000 for as little as $1 per game.
