After clocking off from work early, a Norlane man headed to his local pub to relax and walked away with a $110,000 major Keno win.

The Geelong player held a Keno Classic 9 Spot winning entry in draw 830, drawn Monday 28 February 2022. His total prize was $110,555.00.

“We’d clocked off from work early, so we went down to the pub to relax,” he shared when speaking with an official from Keno.

“I was sitting down and checking the draws when I saw someone had won more than $110,000 from the Norlane Hotel. I looked and said, ‘Aye, what’s this?’.

“I was with my mate, and I told him I thought I’d won, but he didn’t believe me. He just laughed and said, ‘Nah mate, I think you’re dreaming!’.

“So, I looked up how to play the game in the Keno information booklet, then I recounted all the numbers and rechecked the draw on my phone.

“After that, I was pretty convinced I’d won, but I went up to the counter and checked, and sure enough, I was right.

“I was thrilled. I had a few beers with my friend to celebrate, but I had to work very early this morning, so I had to be sensible and go home at a decent time.”

The jolly winner said a dazzling set of new teeth was at the top of his shopping list.

“I’m going to use the prize to look after myself. I’d love to look at getting my teeth fixed, and I’ll save some for my future retirement,” he explained.

“Now that I’ve won the 9 Spot, I’m chasing that 10 Spot win! How good would that be!”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at Norlane Hotel, 2-8 Princes Highway, Norlane.

Norlane Hotel supervisor Rheanan Saraci said the venue was buzzing with excitement following the major prize win.

“It’s such a great win - not only for our patron, but also the venue and our community,” she said.

“We’re all so excited for the winner and wish him all the best with his prize!

“It’s fantastic when a patron wins a big prize. Everyone in the venue was so excited by it.

“It just goes to show that a big win can happen to anyone. We hope the major Keno wins continue!”

In 2021, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 36.2 million wins collectively worth more than $590.3 million.
