A Newcastle couple have waltzed into 2024 as Keno champions after bagging more than $50,000 in a recent draw.

The New South Wales residents scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot in draw 699, drawn Saturday 6 January 2024 and took home a total prize of $50,933.20.

“What a way to start the year! We’re ecstatic,” the winning woman said when an official from Keno called to confirm the couple’s windfall.

“These are numbers that my husband and I have played together for more than three decades, but we’d usually play 10 numbers.

“Recently my husband convinced me to drop a couple of numbers and focus on the 8 Spot and well, it was obviously a good call.

“We had just been out and about with a few friends when I looked up and saw our numbers on the Keno board.

“All I can remember thinking is, ‘goodness I hope we’re in this game’.

“Thank god we were!

“This win is going to make our lives so much easier.

“We’ll put some onto our mortgage and have a think about what else we’d like to do in 2024.

“Thank you so much. It’s so amazing!”

The winning Keno Classic 8 Spot entry was purchased at Wests New Lambton, 88 Hobart Road and corner Tauranga Road, New Lambton.

The team at Wests New Lambton said they were over the moon to have sold a Keno winning entry and wished their winners all the best for 2024.
