A Nelson Bay man was left smiling from ear to ear over the weekend after his good deed for a friend was instantly rewarded with a $1.1 million Keno win.

The New South Wales resident held a Keno Classic 10 Spot winning entry in draw 989, drawn Thursday 24 October 2024. He pocketed a whopping $1,131,353.80.

“I’m good, mate!” he laughed while speaking with an official from Keno.

“The win still hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m just at work like normal today.

“I was at the club shouting my mate lunch. He had done me a favour, so I thought I’d do something to say thank you.

“We put on some games of Keno while we were there, and I really wasn’t expecting anything!

“It’s come at a great time. Thank you so much.”

When asked how he planned to use his newfound treasure, the gleeful man said he was too stunned to make any immediate decisions.

“Honestly, I’m still in shock,” he said.

“I think it’ll feel more real once it hits the bank account.

“I might go on a nice holiday.”

His winning Keno Classic 10 Spot entry was purchased at Wests Nelson Bay, 82-90 Shoal Bay Road, Nelson Bay.

The Wests Nelson Bay Premise Manager James said he and the team were over the moon for their patron and hoped the club’s winning streak continued.

“Exciting news from Wests Nelson Bay! We’re thrilled one lucky local has struck it big, taking home an incredible million-dollar jackpot after winning on Keno Classic 10 Spot,” he said.

“This life-changing win is proof that big dreams can come true right here in our community.

“The atmosphere in the club was filled with excitement when word spread that a winning ticket had been sold. Staff and patrons alike were eager to see who the lucky winner was, and the moment they confirmed their ticket, the room buzzed with celebration.

“This win marks the second time Wests Nelson Bay has sold a million-dollar ticket in recent years, making it a particularly lucky venue.

“We’re thrilled to share this news with all our members and guests, and we look forward to many more exciting moments like this in the future!” In FY24, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 78.5 million wins collectively worth more than $1.16 billion.
