A mystery Laurieton Keno player has kick-started 2020 a multi-millionaire, coming forward to claim their $2.2 million Keno prize today after scoring a Keno 10 Spot win over the weekend.

The New South Wales patron held a Keno 10 Spot winning entry in game 891 on Saturday 4 January 2020, taking home $2,274,284.40.

However, how the punter plans to use their Keno fortune will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.

The winning Keno 10 Spot entry was purchased at Laurieton United Services Club, 2 Seymour Street, Laurieton.

Laurieton United Services Club Secretary Manager Robert Dwyer said the venue was bursting with excitement over the major Keno win.

“It’s a great feeling to know that someone has had a life-changing experience at our venue,” he said.

"To know that this fortune happened at our venue gives us all a sense of excitement and pride.

“The last big win at our venue was $4.53 million in November 2016!

“We wish the lucky winner all the best with their prize. We hope it gives them good fortune and freedom from worrying about their financial security in the future!”

Keno spokesperson Lauren Cooney said she was sure 2020 would be an incredible year for the latest Keno winner.

“While we may never know how they will enjoy their Keno fortune, I have no doubt it will be life-changing! I’m sure their plans for the year will change when that prize lands in their bank account,” she said.

“In the past, our winners have used their Keno windfalls to retire immediately, pay off their mortgages and shout their friends and family dream holidays.

“However our winner chooses to enjoy their windfall we are sure it has changed their lives forever!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 64 million wins collectively worth more than $853 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 17 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $47.2 million. Nine of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Newcastle man who pocketed the biggest Keno jackpot in Australian history - a Keno Mega Millions 10 Spot prize worth $7,898,799.30.

Players in New South Wales and the ACT enjoyed more than 34.19 million Keno wins totalling more than $472.51 million at pubs and clubs across the region in the 12 months to 30 June 2019.
