A Gold Coast man visiting Caloundra has had his trip away turned on its head after playing Keno for the first time in years and walking away with more than $61,000.

The winning Queenslander held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry in draw 18, drawn Friday 10 June 2022. His total prize was $61,326.40.

Confirming his win with an official from Keno today, the man said it was a spur-of-the-moment choice to have a bit of fun and play, but never expected to head home a winner.

“It feels like it was just meant to happen!” he proclaimed.

“I’m still in disbelief and struggling to process the win if I’m honest.

“It was completely random. I hadn’t played Keno in years, but I was having dinner at the pub and thought it would be a little bit of fun.

“The next thing I know, I’ve won $61,000 and I don’t know what to do!

“The win is going to be a huge help. I’ll pay down my mortgage and donate to charity before I do anything else.

“What an amazing feeling!”

His winning entry was purchased at Golden Beach Tavern, 32 Bowman Road, Caloundra.

Golden Beach Tavern spokesperson Jason Hickmott said the team was so excited to see one of their patrons win.

“We’ve been celebrating at the venue and telling everyone we’ve sold a major Keno prize,” he said.

“Lots of people have been so excited to hear that one of our patrons has won. Everyone’s hoping it is one of them next time!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them all the very best with their prize.”
