A Mortdale woman is happily house hunting today after winning a Keno prize of more than $67,000 on the weekend.

The Sydney woman held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 33 on Saturday 11 May 2019, taking home a $67,250.90 prize.

Confirming her win with a Keno official this afternoon, the woman explained how she had been marking the same numbers on her Keno tickets for years.

“I play Keno when I go out for lunch or dinner with my husband,” she shared.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for a few years. They’re birthdays and other special numbers.

“I am glad they’ve delivered me a big win! It’s amazing.

“This is the most I have ever won in Keno. This is the biggest thing I have won in my life actually! I am so happy!

“When I was at the club, one of the ladies came up to me, held my hand and told me I won but I said, ‘I don’t think so love’, because these things never happen to me!

“But then I put my ticket in the machine and saw I won. I was so excited!

“I ran up to my husband and told him I won, but he didn’t believe me, he thought I was joking! I had to show him on the screen.”

When asked how she planned to use her Keno prize, the elated woman said her win meant she could finally buy her own house, a dream she had for years.

“I am going to put it towards a house or an apartment. I don’t really care what I buy, I’m not fussy” she explained.

“I just want something that I can call my own and stop paying rent. I’ve never owned a house before, so this will mean I finally can.

“As soon as I have the money in my account I am going to celebrate with my husband!”

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her Keno 8 Spot winning entry at St George Masonic Club, 86 Roberts Avenue, Mortdale.

St George Masonic Club operations manager Kerrie Mather said the win was the largest Keno prize the venue had seen in many years.

“Everyone was so excited. The venue was buzzing,” she said.

“We saw it announced on the Keno screen, as did lots of patrons, and lots of people were coming up to the window and checking their tickets, hoping it was them.

“We are very happy for our winner!

“I hope she enjoys being $67,000 richer and that it makes her life just that little bit easier.

“We have a family club atmosphere and therefore our patrons are usually local families or retirees, all of which are hard workers and are very deserving. This winner is no different, so we couldn’t be happier for her.”

In 2018, Keno crowned 16 millionaires and multi-millionaires who collectively took home more than $36.47 million.Ten of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT.

New South Wales players win $43.26 million each month on average playing Keno in pubs and clubs across the state.

Last year in New South Wales alone, players bought 43.26 million Keno tickets and won $519.06 million in cash prizes, including 973 individual 7, 8, 9, and 10 Spot jackpot prizes.
