A Mitchelton woman who is recovering from cancer has confessed her Keno 8 Spot win worth over $52,000 has lifted a huge weight off her shoulders.

The Brisbane woman held a Keno 8 Spot winning entry in game 763 on Saturday 24 August 2019 that scored a total jackpot prize of $52,878.90.

Speaking with a Keno official this morning, the Mitchelton woman described how she had been enjoying her first lunch out after leaving hospital when she decided to play Keno.

“I’ve been going through chemotherapy and radiation cancer treatment for going on a year now but I am on the tail end of it and recovering well,” she explained.

“I’d just got of hospital after my final treatment and I went down to the hotel for a meal with my family.

“I only ever play Keno when I am getting a meal and this time was no different so I put on my usual numbers.

“They are all my family numbers. It’s all my brother’s and sister’s birthdays and my parents’ birthdays and then I throw one other number in for good luck.

“I’ve been playing those numbers for about 40 years now but they’ve finally come good!”

The happy woman revealed that she had no idea she had scored such a massive prize until she scanned her ticket.

“I saw a few numbers come up during a draw and thought I might have won $2 or $4,” she explained.

“I didn’t watch the whole thing so when I scanned my ticket and was told I had won I couldn’t believe it.

“I had tears in my eyes when I realised. I was so happy to be able to tell my family some good news after only telling them bad news for the past year.

“It was fantastic!”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the happy woman revealed it had come at the perfect time.

“Having treatment for the past year has cost me a fortune so this will go a long way to getting me back on my feet,” she said.

“It is just a humungous relief to be able to pay off a nice part of the mortgage. It has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.”

The happy woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning Keno 8 Spot entry at Brook Hotel Motel, 167 Osborne Road, Mitchelton.

Brook Hotel Motel spokesperson Nick Stein said the team was happily sharing the excitement with their major Keno winner.

“What an incredible win for our patron! It’s always great hearing these winning stories and now we have another one to share with our patrons,” he said.

“We’re thrilled for our customer and we hope to see more Keno winners in our venue soon.

“Congratulations to them. We have no doubt they’ll enjoy their prize!”
